The Women in Standards has partnered with the Society for Standards Professionals (SES) to undertake an initiative to create a competency framework for standardization professionals and contributors. Standards developers and the Women in Standards will be able to use this information to better address the needs of standards contributors.

The first step in this process is to obtain a greater understanding of the various job roles and the associated required knowledge, skills, abilities and other attributes needed for today’s standardization professionals and contributors.

We are seeking to obtain sample job descriptions and calls for committee members for all different levels of positions and different functions within the standardization ecosystem.

Ideally, we would like to collect sample job descriptions and calls for committee members from government, industry, SDOs, conformity assessment organizations, standards product developers and resellers, etc. The position need not be a full-time standardization professional or standards participant; please send any examples where a portion of the work was to support standards activities.

Please send as many examples as you are willing to share to:

Women in Standards and the SES will “genericize” all job descriptions submitted. Meaning we still strip away any specific organization identifying information such as organization name, etc., before sharing publicly. Please submit your job descriptions by: September 30, 2020.

If you have any questions regarding this project initiative, please contact Karin Athanas, Women in Standards Executive Officer, at
